An Industrial PhD is a three-year business-oriented PhD project in which the student is employed in a company and at the same time enrolled at DTU. It typically goes like this:
A candidate with a master’s degree agrees with a company and DTU to make a project. DTU can help you find a suitable company.
The candidate, the company and DTU agree on a project and formulate an application that meets a number of different requirements.
Once the application is approved, the project can start. The student must distribute his time equally between DTU and the company.
During the three years, the student must complete PhD courses corresponding to 30 ECTS credits.
The study ends with the student submitting his / her PhD thesis at DTU. The PhD defense takes place after the assessment committee’s submission of the preliminary recommendation and no later than 3 months after the submission of the PhD dissertation.
Companies can apply for grants through the Industrial PhD scheme.
